Meet Our Team - Nicole Morrison

Over the summer we'd love to introduce our support staff to you, a vital part of the SCIDES team we could not work without. We're so grateful for our support staff, and Nicole Morrison agreed to be featured first.

Thanks for taking the time, Nicole. Can you introduce yourself and tell us where you're from?

My name is Nicole Morrison, born and raised at the lower mainland.  I’ve lived in Merritt for 16 years.

How long have you been part of the team at SCIDES and what is your job here?

I have been a secretary at SCIDES for 5.5 years. 

What’s your favourite aspect of being part of the SCIDES team?

I enjoy seeing students of all ages succeed in their academic goals.  We also have an amazing team at SCIDES, which makes work awesome.

What’s your least favourite aspect of being part of the SCIDES team? 

When the phone is ringing off the hook in September and when the semester changes, ha. 

What’s your best advice for students who want to figure out their career path and calling? 

Go with your gut/your intuition and passion. If you’re truly passionate about something, go for it.

What’s your favourite book and why? 

I like to read self-improvement books, my favourite would be Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey. It shows that you can turn “tough” situations into amazing opportunities.  

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? 

You can do anything and be anything, the sky is the limit. Invest in yourself, you’ll never lose.

What do you still want to learn? 

The list is endless, ha! I think as humans, we should always be learning.

When you’re not busy supporting students and teachers at SCIDES, what do you enjoy doing? 

I have a passion for fitness and nutrition, I spend every morning in the gym at my house, investing in my healthy lifestyle.
